I AM BLACK……I know there is racism! - Part III

Now let’s talk about churches. I was a member of a White church for most of my life. In my home church, however, I had no problems. But with the affiliates of my Church, out of Iowa, Tennessee, and the like, they were another shade of grey (I was there until 1993). I was approached by a number of men in these churches, but I kept quiet and did not say anything. No one would believe me anyhoo. These were Christian white men, now mind you. They were some of the worst racists I have ever seen, and they used Jesus’ name to justify their racism. I was told by one prominent man in the church, “Blacks will just not follow in step like the white people in the church.” He said, “God did not send APOSTLES to every nation, especially black nations.” He voiced this to me because the blacks were told to get rid of their TVs and they did not. We were told NOT to go to college because we would become indoctrinated with the liberal doctrine of colleges, whereas the white young people could go to college because they would not become liberal.

Just a month ago, a young 21-year-old white girl, and her friends, ran into my brick mailbox, exploding it to smithereens. The young white girl would not give my husband any information and used expletives to him. She, however, did talk to out next door neighbors, who are white, and who witnessed the accident. This girl refused to give the information to the police officer as well. She was not arrested nor was anything done to her. You think I could have gotten away with that….then let me sell you a bridge. The wrecker came up before the police got there, and the girls, dressed in their little Daisy Dukes shorts, went over to him, whispering to him, and he just started loading their car on the tow truck. I told him he had to wait for the police officer before he moved the car, but he just looked at me and shrugged his shoulders. Later, this guy’s boss chewed him out for moving the car before the cops got there, saying he put the company’s license in jeopardy. Because the wrecker guy put the car up on the wrecker bed so fast, we did not get the VIN number. The young lady refused to give us her insurance information, but did give me her driver’s license number. After much research on my part, I found where the young lady had taken her mangled car, and I went there to get the VIN number. You think that shop gave me the VIN number or let me get close to that car? If so, I know of another bridge I can sell you. I went back home and got my white neighbor, who knew the owner of the garage, to go there with me. Back at the shop, my neighbor walked right over to the car, started taking pictures and writing the VIN number down. No one said anything to her at all. My neighbor then went inside the building, and talked to the guy she knew, telling him the whole story about the mailbox and how the girl would not talk to me or give me information. My neighbor asked him to give us the VIN number and he went outside to the car, wrote down the VIN number, and gave it to me. Let me tell you something, whether you want to believe it or not, a black person cannot just walk into a garage and take pictures and get a VIN number like that….talk about white privilege! I was then able to chase down this girls insurance through the VIN number and get my mailbox replaced.

To be continued...
