Mother was beautiful and statuesque.
Mother would pick me up & carry me next to her tightly and securely, making sure I was safe.
Mother was my defender; no one would dare hurt me while she was around.
Mother made sure I had food to eat and did whatever it took to keep me from being hungry.
Mother made sure I had clothes and shoes to wear.
Mother made sure I had a roof over my head and a bed to lie down in.
Mother was by my side if I was sick. She walked the floor when I had fevers and took me to the doctor when she had to.
Mother taught me to read and write and she taught me arithmetic.
Mother taught me how to cook, clean the house, and do laundry.
Mother taught me how to put on my makeup and do my hair.
Mother taught me how to sit like a lady.
Mother taught me how to dress like a lady.
Mother taught me the facts of life and about men.
Mother taught me never to talk back to my elders and to respect all people.
Mother…when I was in trouble she was by defender and my savior. If I was wrong she told me so and never let me forgot it either. But if I was right, she sang my praises and never let me forgot that either.
Mother…when I was sad, was my cheerleading squad. It was her mission in life to make my hurt so much better.
Mother…when I was embarrassed, taught me that nothing lasted forever and tomorrow would be a new day.
Mother…whatever event that took place in my life, graduating from school, college, my first job, getting married, having my first child, etc., you made that event the center of your life and nothing on God’s earth was going to keep you away.
Mother…the moments in life when I was at my worse, ugliest, and lowest...you were there.
Mother…when I did not love myself and thought others did not love me either… you saw me as I was and refused to let me be enveloped in self-loathing or self-pity.
Mother, you made my life so worth living and I want to thank you for being my Mother. You have loved me with God’s love, the love where you would laid down your own life!
Mother, I may not have told you enough how much I love you. Mother, I may not have showed you enough how much I love you. These are the greatest losses I share in this life.
But today, on Mother’s Day…Mother...I am a living testament of your love for me! Mother, I am a living testament of your love for me! Thank God for you.
